As I look back on everything we learned in the past week, I definitely feel more prepared and confident with using the technology and web 2.0 tools out there in my future media center. Before I took this course, I did have some knowledge of the popular tools students and teachers were using in schools and libraries, but I lacked first-hand experience using them.
I still agree with the Unquiet Librarian Blog post, and I still think it's crucial to keep up with the current web 2.0 tools. It's important to incorporate them into your lessons to make student learning more engaging, fun, and meaningful as well, and allow them to express their ideas using different media formats. After the first day in the course, I felt overwhelmed with the volume of information we were given in such a short period of time. Now, I am excited about all of the tools we've learned and find myself exploring them more and incorporating them into other school assignments already.
Out of all of the tools we have learned about, I can see myself continuing to use most of them. I was familiar with using Wikispaces and Delicious before this course, and think these are great tools to organize and share information. I can see myself using blogs to promote my media center and foster student sharing as in the future as well. VoiceThread is another unique and easy tool I would use to share images and projects, foster collaboration, and receive feedback from users all over the world. Another tool I really enjoyed using was Glogster. I think this creates such an appealing and interactive website that would excite and motivate students to learn, and even create one of their own.
I think this course was a great introduction to the various web 2.0 tools out there, and I can't wait to see what else is out there.
